Tara Morris, aged 10, recently participated in the UK heats of the Genee Dance Competition - a fore runner to the prestigious Genee International Ballet Competiton. The event took place at the Headquarters of the National Dance Company Wales and was adjudicated by Darius James, the Artistic Director of Ballet Cymru.
The competition was open to any students up to the age of 19 who are taught by a Royal Academy of Dance Registered teacher. Participation in the competition gives students the opportunity to explore creativity, perform in front of an audience and receive coaching and constructive feedback. All net proceeds from the Genée Dance Challenge will go towards the Challengenée Fund, which provides funding for the annual Genée International Ballet Competition.
Tara performed amazingly and is one of only eight Genée Dance Challenge finalists from Cardiff to represent the UK and will join up to 24 other heat-winners from Luxembourg, Belgium and the Netherlands at the European competition Final in Antwerp on 14 September. The overall winners of each four levels will be invited to perform at the Genée International Ballet Competition Semi-finals on 25 September 2014, as well as given two free tickets to the Final of the Genée International Ballet Competition in Antwerp on Saturday 27 September
We are hugely proud of Tara's achievements and know she wil; be working hard over the summer holidays to really polish up her performance ready for the next round and meeting the incredible Darcey Bussell. Good Luck Tara!!
